Next Date: November 21
There is so much you can do as an individual to make change happen.
Remember that if you are taking a particular step on a particular day, it is likely others are doing a similar thing on that day, too. In that sense the effect of your action is multiplied by many times.

Individual, Solo Actions for Moratorium Day
Wear a black ribbon or armband
Hand out ribbons or armbands to others.
Wear an anti-war button
Call or email your Representative and Senators. Tell them what you think. Let them know that you expect them to do everything possible to end the war and bring the troops home. [The Capitol Hill switchboard number is 202-224-3121.]
Learn who your Representative and Senators are. Find the address of their local offices and their email and fax addresses. To get started, go to CapWiz.com.
Write your Representative and your Senators. A handwritten letter has even more impact than a phone call.
Hit your elected officials where it hurts, with a voided campaign contribution check. Tell them no more financial support for them as long as they continue to fund the war.
Replace your home page with a Moratorium page every Third Friday.
Write a letter to your local newspaper. Many have online links or forms that you can fill in to send a letter. Do it electronically or actually mail a letter.
Spread the Moratorium over the Internet . Email your list to remind people of Moratorium day, write a blog post or comment on other blogs and websites. Submit the Iraq Moratorium to websites, Wikipedia , search engines , other peace and anti-war sites, progressive sites etc.
Don't buy gas. Or don't shop at all.
Put a sign on your lawn or in your window or on your car.
Write "Stop the War" or other slogans on the sidewalk in chalk.
Buy toy soldiers from the Army Men Project. Put tags on them that say "Bring Me Home" and leave them in stores, parks, libraries, laundromats, anywhere people will find them.
Email friends and family and urge them to sign the Iraq Moratorium pledge and to take one of these steps, too.
Pray - in your faith, attend services.
Donate to the Iraq Moratorium.
Join or donate to your favorite organization working to stop the war and occupation.
Find a group action and go - by yourself. Woody Allen quipped, "Ninety percent of life is just showing up". You can be shy, you can be silent, you don't have to speak to anyone, you do not have to cheer, you can hang on the fringe. Just being there is enough. Check our ever-expanding local event listings.
